ARTIST
Alessandro Saturno
Alessandro Saturno was born in Naples in 1983. His formative years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples marked a path of research and exploration of gesture through the history of painting techniques. In 2008 he moved to Bologna, where he completed his studies two years later at the Accademia di Belle Arti Clementina with a thesis on the relationship between sign, image and sound. His first significant solo exhibition took place in Bologna in 2013 at Adiacenze. From that point onward, his exhibition activity intensified, with participation in numerous projects across Italy and internationally. From 2015 to 2017 he worked as an assistant to the painter Maurizio Bottarelli. Since 2018 he has collaborated with ReMida Bologna—an important centre in the field of education—as an atelierista and expert in graphic-pictorial and plastic languages. His pictorial research has long been directed towards an idea of the image as mirage, situated between bodily memory and apparition. The space of the painting becomes a place that questions vision at the threshold of the visible. A recent publication by ViaIndustriae Publishing gathers his research on landscape developed over the past years. He lives and works in Bologna.
