On Tuesday 21 October 2025 at 7 pm, Galleria Studio Cenacchi in Bologna will present Mosaic Harmonies and Dissonances, featuring works by Giuliano Babini, Giovanna Galli and Paolo Racagni. The exhibition is included in the programme of the 9th Biennale of Contemporary Mosaic, which runs from 18 October 2025 to 18 January 2026.

Curated by Sandro Malossini, with an accompanying catalogue text by the curator, the exhibition will run until Thursday 30 October. Galleria Studio Cenacchi, at Via Santo Stefano 63, is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 4.30 to 7.30 pm. Admission is free.

The exhibition belongs to a wider project bringing contemporary mosaic from Ravenna into a number of galleries. Together, these exhibitions offer a journey through the very different ways in which artists are working with mosaic today.

The Exhibition

For Babini, Galli and Racagni, mosaic is no longer governed by the conventions of traditional technique. The painstaking construction of an image, tessera by tessera, gives way to a freer and more instinctive approach.

Glass paste, marble and other materials are handled in highly individual ways, often deliberately pushed beyond their conventional use. Representation is no longer the main concern. Instead, material becomes a means of giving physical presence to feelings and emotions.

The Event

The event is jointly promoted and organised by the Municipality of Ravenna – Department of Culture, MAR – Ravenna Art Museum, Galleria Studio Cenacchi and CARP Associazione di Promozione Sociale, in collaboration with Spazio Espositivo Pallavicini 22 Art Gallery, Archivio Collezione Ghigi-Pagnani and Felsina Factory.

The exhibition is held under the patronage of the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Academy of Fine Arts of Ravenna and the Port System Authority of the Central Northern Adriatic Sea, with the support of SAGEM srl.
