Inspired by Milton’s poem — which tells the biblical story of the Fall, Satan’s temptation of Adam and Eve, and their expulsion from the Garden of Eden — Madera embarked on a long-term photographic project in the countryside around Bologna. Returning to these landscapes year after year, he developed a personal visual response to Milton’s text.
