On Thursday 11 June 2026, from 3 pm to 11 pm, Galleria Studio Cenacchi, Via Santo Stefano 63, Bologna, opens Sguardi Periferici as part of Open Tour 2026. Curated by Luca Panaro, the exhibition brings together projects by Matteo Aloe, Claudia Gentile, Pier Rocco Musillo and Simona Sellitto.

In Matteo Aloe’s Crohnicles. A Journey with Crohn (2025), black-and-white photographs evoke the appearance of X-rays. The imagery stems directly from the artist’s experience of Crohn’s disease, a debilitating inflammatory bowel condition that can profoundly affect both social and working life.

The serpent is at the heart of Claudia Gentile’s Ophis (2025). A symbol of healing, rebirth and wisdom, but also of vice and sin, it becomes the point of departure for a work inspired by the Festa dei Serpari, a fascinating traditional religious ritual from Abruzzo.

Pier Rocco Musillo’s two photographs, Dio adda pruvved (2026), take their title from a Lucanian dialect expression used in difficult times as a source of reassurance: ‘God will provide and deliver us from every misfortune.’ The objects in the photographs appear suspended, echoing the silence and sense of time standing still after the words have been spoken.

Another dialect expression, this time Neapolitan, lies at the heart of Simona Sellitto’s È fernut’ mammà (2026): ‘It’s over, Mum is dead.’ A family narrative centred on the artist’s grandmother is intertwined with the nineteenth-century belief that the final image seen by a person before death remains imprinted on the retina.
