On 3 May at 6 pm, TYPOPAINTING, a solo exhibition by Andrea Bersani, opens at Studio Cenacchi, Via Santo Stefano 63, Bologna. Critical text by Bruno Benuzzi.

“Andrea’s works — ironically dubbed Typopainting — command attention with their chromatically exuberant, almost gossipy spirit […], with the lively interplay between spreading, mottled patches of colour and a persistent calligraphic impulse that struggles in vain not to be overwhelmed by them. Yet without ever surrendering completely, and keeping the shadow of what has been suppressed at bay, it eventually gives itself over to fluid, galactic flourishes, preserving, as far as it can, something of an incisive character, however increasingly diaphanous.

In truth, there is nothing to be read. The processions — or even disjointed, Babel-like profusions — of letters and numbers seem to linger, waiting for a detective capable of deciphering them, of piecing together the elusive text that seems about to emerge.”
