STAND PROJECT
The project brings the work of Domenico Grenci, Alessandro Saturno and Zeno Bertozzi into dialogue around three dimensions of experience: figure, landscape and matter.
In Grenci’s female faces, the figure emerges through bitumen, charcoal and colour, suspended between presence and disappearance. The face becomes the site of an elusive inner world, through which painting explores the uniqueness of the individual.
In Saturno’s work, landscape grows out of observation and memory, becoming a threshold between experience and imagination. Nature loses any precise geographical reference and becomes a place that feels at once familiar and impossible to name.
Bertozzi transfers this tension directly into matter. Ceramic and plaster are incised and transformed until their surfaces evoke erosion, calcification and natural concretions — surfaces upon which time itself seems to leave a physical trace.
Figure, landscape and matter thus become three expressions of the same enquiry: whatever we see always carries within it the traces of time and experience.
ZENO BERTOZZI – SELECTION OF ARTWORKS
Zeno Bertozzi works through a form of sculptural tattooing, creating surfaces that evoke both bone calcification and natural concretions of many different kinds. From these forms emerges a reflection on time and its ability to alter surfaces whose classical beauty might otherwise suggest permanence.
Under the sign of metamorphosis, Bertozzi meticulously repeats this process across ceramic and plaster surfaces, working with the fine point of a burin. Repetition itself becomes inseparable from the dimension of time: a slow, contemplative process that shapes matter, creating craters and forms that become a measure of time’s invisible passage.
DOMENICO GRENCI – SELECTION OF ARTWORKS
Grenci’s painting is driven by the urgency of an intimate dialogue, exploring the sense of incompleteness inherent in the human condition and its relationship with the origin of all things: nature in relation to the human.
In many of his works, the female face appears as a space in which the subject attempts to inhabit both the self and the humanity of the other — an attempt to respond to the enduring question of what makes each individual unique, singular and ultimately unfathomable.
ALESSANDRO SATURNO – SELECTION OF ARTWORKS
Alessandro Saturno’s recent practice draws on the legacy of the past while returning his attention to a vision of the landscape as world. His painting dissolves into the natural realm, where gesture and colour evoke forms, movements and transformations.
Saturno’s works embody an introspective approach to landscape in which the human presence is absent from the image yet, in a sense, remains its point of origin. Elements of the landscape are retrieved through observation and memory, like a journey resurfacing in the act of painting. Nature becomes a threshold, an opening onto a world that is both tangible and ideal, both culture and dream: a world of the inner self that was first a world of experience. A place we somehow know but cannot name. A nameless place we may have forgotten, or one that has always been waiting for us.
Saturno’s landscapes resemble desires or apparitions, journeys backwards or forwards in time that bring what seemed distant within reach again. Mirages. Visions that reposition and rediscover the traces already imprinted within us, reminding us that we are still part of Nature.
Alessandro Saturno experiences landscape through the body, memory and lived experience, revealing it as an essential condition of both life and art.
