Augusto Gadea
Augusto Gadea (Montevideo, 1989) lives and works in Bologna. Over the past decade his research has focused on developing a pictorial poetics of the earth, through the use of geological sediments and the recovery of pre-industrial painting techniques. He is currently further developing this line of research in collaboration with the Italian National Research Council (CNR) within the project Atlante delle Terre. He has received several awards, including one of Uruguay’s most important public recognitions in the visual arts, the National Painting Prize at the 56th National Visual Arts Salon, with the work Tierra de nadie (2014), later acquired by the Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales (MNAV) in Montevideo. He has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

Alongside his exhibitions, he has been invited to present his research at various institutions, including the Department of the Arts at the University of Bologna. His works are held in public and private collections in Italy and abroad.
