At the core of the project are images — poised on the thin line that should separate truth from artificiality, two notions that increasingly collapse into a new concept of reality shaped by the deceptive, hybrid visual landscape of our postmodern daily life. Images reach us in many forms: cultural, commercial, or somewhere in between, where communication appropriates and contaminates artistic language, and in turn influences institutional art itself. In these works, the “place” of the image is no longer relevant: it is not contextualised, it does not rely on surroundings, but asserts an autonomous meaning. Today, a single image exists simultaneously in multiple spaces — physical and virtual — first positioned through the rational logic of marketing, then absorbed and redistributed through unpredictable channels. We encounter images everywhere: in the underground, online, on the street, in books, museums, galleries.

The images presented here reflect and, at the same time, alter this serial and disorienting process. They originate from an attraction to the icons that pursue us daily, and from a desire to investigate the ambiguity of the visual: between the intrinsic beauty of the subject and the photographer’s intervention; between cultural and commercial imagery; between real and artificial elements.

In the “double images”, the distinction between what is “true” and what is “fake” is deliberately obscured. In the “semi-portraits”, identity is questioned through subtraction — how much information can be removed before recognition disappears? Conversely, other works explore excess and duplication, where layered information deforms the original image, transforming it into a disguised copy. Through these tensions, Fictionalism becomes a reflection on the unstable nature of images and the shifting boundaries of reality itself.
