On Thursday 18 June 2026 at 6 pm, Galleria Studio Cenacchi, Via Santo Stefano 63, Bologna, opens Humans, an exhibition by Alessandra Aita.

Humans explores what it means to be human today, at a time of profound change, contradiction and increasingly urgent questions. Working with wood, iron and resin, Alessandra Aita reflects on human nature, our vulnerability and our ability to reinvent ourselves in response to the challenges of the present.

The figures that inhabit the exhibition are not complete or reassuring representations of individuals. They are suspended presences, shaped by time, memory and experience. Fragmented bodies, weathered surfaces and pared-back forms evoke a human condition that is constantly changing — never fixed, always open to new possibilities.

At a time when reality often feels fragmented and uncertain, art offers a chance to slow down, look and think. Aita’s sculptures provide no solutions and make no claims to certainty. Instead, they create a space for attention and awareness, allowing questions to emerge without demanding immediate answers.

Matter and thought, memory and transformation, vulnerability and resilience exist in a delicate balance. It is precisely through their apparent incompleteness that these figures suggest a humanity still capable of change: able to embrace complexity and to recognise vulnerability as a source of strength rather than a limitation.

Humans is ultimately an invitation to find the courage to reflect. It is a quiet but necessary courage: the willingness to remain with difficult questions and to be receptive to the experience of art. Perhaps being human is not something that can ever be captured by a single, definitive description. Perhaps it lies instead in our continuing attempt to understand ourselves, one another and the world we inhabit.
