EXHIBITION
Legami fragili
04.04 > 04.05.2024
On Thursday 4 April at 6 pm, the exhibition Legami fragili, curated by Raffaele Quattrone, opens at Galleria Studio Cenacchi, Via Santo Stefano 63, Bologna. The exhibition brings together works by Rosalia Banet, Enrica Borghi, Zeno Bertozzi, Davide Bramante, Roberta Cavallari, Pierpaolo Curti, Alberto Di Fabio, Armida Gandini, Kepa Garraza, Alberto Gianfreda, Alessandro Moreschini, Sabrina Muzi and Antonio Riello.
One of the fundamental conditions of society lies in the relationships between individuals. Society exists precisely because people come together, relinquishing a portion of their freedom in order to become stronger as a collective—where one cannot reach, another can. These relationships have long been considered “solid”, foundational in nature: without strength, society fragments and returns to its original state. Zygmunt Bauman theorised this process as a form of “liquefaction”. The solid bonds of the past are now replaced by what he defines as liquid ties—“rafts made of blotting paper”—a metaphor that immediately conveys their fragility. Would a shipwrecked person trust such a raft to withstand the elements?
As a result, contemporary individuals no longer believe in building relationships that are inherently unstable and fleeting. Instead, they are guided by a form of radical individualism, driven by the need to defend the self.
These reflections form the basis of the project, which arises not from the initiative of a curator or a gallery alone, but from the relationship between curator, artists and the spaces that host it. The exhibition evolves with each venue, adapting to different contexts while maintaining its core focus: the strength of human relationships and the creation of shared spaces and communities.
A partnership has also been established with CONNEXXION – Festival Diffuso di Arte Contemporanea, curated by Livia Savorelli, former director of Espoarte.
Through this collaboration, two artists from the festival’s second edition have been included: Armida Gandini (from the exhibition Dialoghi intorno alla libertà, curated by Livia Savorelli at the Museo Sandro Pertini and Renata Cuneo in Savona) and Alberto Gianfreda (from Frammenti. Atti di conservazione per un futuro di libertà, curated by Livia Savorelli and Matteo Galbiati at the Civic Archaeological Museum of Savona).
The project begins its first chapter in Bologna at Galleria Studio Cenacchi, before continuing—each time in a different form—in Rome on 20 April at Studio DFB, on 12 May in Lodi at Spazio 21, and subsequently in Ala (Studio Roberta Cavallari – Palazzo Gresti Filippi), and in Palazzolo Acreide, Siracusa (Casa Bramante – San Sebastiano Contemporary), with dates to be announced.
