Rigamonti shows that photography does not end with the moment the shutter is released. An image can remain suspended, drifting through time and opening up a journey into both the past and photography itself. His works are, in effect, images of images.

Working from his own photographic archive, Rigamonti travels without ever leaving the studio, searching through files and storage boxes. He selects groups of slides from his analogue years, transfers them onto Polaroid and leaves them to soak in balsamic vinegar for 24 hours. The process transforms the originals into atmospheric, blurred images, sometimes soft and elusive, sometimes marked by mysterious traces of corrosion.

In Paesaggi acidi, the sea becomes an inner landscape and the horizon embodies the very idea of distance: the point where seeing meets not seeing, where the visible touches the invisible.
