Marco Rigamonti

Marco Rigamonti was born in Piacenza in 1958. He graduated in Nuclear Engineering in 1983 and developed an interest in photography during his university years. He has worked as a professional photographer since 1995. He was director of the international photography festival Fotosintesi, held in Piacenza from 2004 for five editions. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Italy, Europe, China and Canada. He is president of TIFF_Collettivo di fotografia creativa and artistic director of the gallery SPAZIO BFT. His images have been published in major national and international newspapers and magazines, including La Repubblica, La Stampa, Le Monde, Frankfurter Allgemeine and Télérama.

Sicily asserts itself not only through its presence but also through the stories it tells—literature, cinema, theatre, and the photographer’s eye. Rigamonti sought a Sicily dominated by contemporary markers.

SOLO FIORI

Suspended between presence and absence, between survival and dissolution, the Solo fiori series focuses on small, discarded floral bouquets from cemetery bins.

PAESAGGI ACIDI

2003

Rigamonti demonstrates that photography is not merely the moment of the shot; it can suspend time and drift across it. His works are, in essence, images of images.

PERSO NEL BOSCO

2000

In the Perso nel bosco series, Rigamonti’s shadowed images immerse us in a tangle of branches that seem to brush against our faces, reaching toward us. The distant horizon flips into an oppressive closeness, defying any “controlled” or rational perspective.
