SOLO FIORI / 2006

Suspended between presence and absence, between survival and dissolution, the Solo fiori series focuses on small, discarded floral bouquets from cemetery bins. The flowers are no longer shown between bloom and decay, nor in the full chromatic richness and disintegration that seventeenth-century vanitas painters depicted to remind of mortality and the fragility of beauty. Instead, Rigamonti presents wilted petals and scattered corollas, residual yet still tokens of care connecting the living with the departed. These are not metaphors of birth or death, but persistent memories, tender traces that survive among the living. Preserved and displayed almost exactly as found, they are beautiful, melancholic, and imbued with a quiet, contemplative vibration.
