Sicily asserts itself not only through its presence but also through the stories it tells—literature, cinema, theatre, and the photographer’s eye. Rigamonti sought a Sicily dominated by contemporary markers. He sought monuments that were not silent ghosts, but living, recently built structures. Ruins of the present. Vestiges of the contemporary. An extreme landscape where contrast is entirely internal, interrupted only by shafts of light that break and dissolve the shadows.
