ARTIST

Maurizio Tangerini

Maurizio Tangerini was born in Cento (Ferrara) in 1958 and lives and works in Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna). His passion and aptitude for drawing and painting emerged at an early age. Growing up among teachers and artists at the D.L.F. cultural circle in his hometown, he refined his skills and established connections within the Bolognese artistic environment. He enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, where he graduated in Painting under Professor E. Contini, presenting a thesis on Lucian Freud discussed with Contini and art historian Walter Guadagnini. While his practice also includes sculpture and printmaking, his work is primarily focused on painting, which he develops across different supports and techniques. He creates luminous, tonal views of cities and contemporary places, and in recent years has complemented these works with small watercolours—intimate reflections on nature and its details. He has exhibited in various Italian cities in both solo and group exhibitions. He works in his studio in Casalecchio and teaches painting in several cultural associations. At Galleria Studio Cenacchi he presented the solo exhibition Bologna, dalle periferie al centro (2019) and has participated in numerous group shows.
