On Saturday 8 November 2025 at 6 pm, Galleria Studio Cenacchi, Via Santo Stefano 63, Bologna, opens Nature alternative, curated by Pasquale Fameli, who has also written the accompanying critical text.

The exhibition brings together 15 works, creating a dialogue between the artists and across the gallery’s three levels. Zeno Bertozzi builds intricate surfaces in plaster and ceramic, while Francesco Bocchini works with iron sheet and is also represented by a piece from a recent experimental series in porcelain. The poetic, dreamlike landscapes of Domenico Grenci and Alessandro Saturno are joined by Pietro Caponetti’s richly textured jungles, which seem to emerge from a distant past. A small yet intense work by Giorgio Zucchini, chosen as the exhibition’s key image, completes the selection.

Curator Pasquale Fameli writes:

“At a time when images are increasingly dematerialised and circulate endlessly in digital form, the relationship between art and nature has once again become an urgent question. As visual experience itself seems to be losing substance and focus, the artists in this exhibition return to a direct engagement with material. Matter is not simply something to be represented, but a living presence to be explored and transformed.”

He continues:

“This is a different kind of nature, no longer something simply to contemplate, but something to question. It offers no answers. Instead, it raises new questions. Viewers are invited to lose themselves in this imagined landscape and to recognise something deeply human in the otherness of a flower, a leaf or a branch. Nature alternative thus becomes a metaphor for our contemporary condition: fragile, changing and searching for new roots.”
