Momenti dilatati brings together Mario Lamma’s photography and Maurizio Tangerini’s watercolours in a single exhibition at Studio Cenacchi. The show presents recent works by both artists, each exploring the natural landscape.

Tangerini’s small watercolours depict solitary trees and dark, leaden stretches of water. Both in subject and scale, they mark a departure from the urban scenes of previous years. In a year unlike any other, the artist turns towards nature, finding space for a more intimate reflection on its quieter details.

Vittorio Baglieri writes of Tangerini’s work:

“[…] Reaching towards the sky, bare branches with only a few leaves search for life. Their existence is part of the humble rhythm of the seasons, which changes their appearance but never their intimate bond with earth and sky. Tangerini captures this connection in brief yet eloquent marks that speak directly to the heart. The artist conveys an affectionate intimacy with humble things, together with a cosmic feeling that spreads across the entire surface of these small works. […]”

Lamma’s photographs belong to a subtle and elusive study of the frozen waterways of his native landscape. It is a subject he has pursued for years, continually finding new directions within it, as the works in this exhibition reveal.

Alessandra Rizzi writes of Lamma’s photographs:

“[…] The photographer knows that this particular moment in time, this flowing water, like the air he is breathing now, will never be the same again. Each is unique and unrepeatable. Only then can he perform the extraordinary act: with his eyes, his breath and his heart, he holds the moment still — that moment, fleetingly eternal.”

For Lamma, it is the instant the photograph is taken; for Tangerini, the moment of seeing, captured in watercolour on paper. In both, a fleeting experience seems to stretch beyond time and become absolute. It is this sensation that emerges for those who pause and look closely at the works in Momenti dilatati.
