EXHIBITION

Linn Espinosa

Pagine dell’anima

13 April > 11 May 2023

On Thursday 13 April 2023, from 6 pm to 9 pm, the solo exhibition Pagine dell’anima by Linn Espinosa opens at Galleria Studio Cenacchi in Via Santo Stefano 63, Bologna.

Curated by Jacopo Cenacchi, this first solo exhibition of the Colombian artist at the gallery presents a selection of recent works created in 2023 alongside a group of earlier pieces dating from 2004 to 2013, offering insight into the evolution of Espinosa’s artistic research since her last solo exhibitions at the historic Galleria Paolo Nanni.

As Odette Gelosi wrote:

“The canvases clearly express a poetics centred on the transcription of emotional states through references to a fragmented reality, disarticulated into its components and imbued with colours reflecting the artist’s psychological conditions. Thus emerge powerful tones, enriched by the brightness and intensity of the skies of her homeland or of Mediterranean lands […].

Colour takes on a predominant role in her paintings, applied with a gestural approach through overlapping layers, varying chromatic intensity and subtle glazes that generate vibrations and correspondences among pigments within broad colour fields.

All of Linn Espinosa’s paintings can be described as snapshots of the psyche.”

Ci sono ancora storie trasparenti da raccontare is the title of the work chosen as the key image of the exhibition. The works on display — acrylic on canvas — take the form of short narratives, notes and self-contained stories that refer back to the “primordial essence of things.”

Espinosa’s pictorial language is immediate and universal. Through a slow and meditative development, each element contributes to transporting the viewer to “the place where memories reside.”
